SPMT Operator

Mammoet is hiring experienced SPMT operators for heavy lift and transport projects across the UK, based at Thornaby with occasional time at its Teesside and Hixon depots. Operators load, unload, assemble and dismantle Scheuerle self-propelled modular transporters and auxiliary equipment, drive the units to move project loads within safety limits, and carry out routine and preventative maintenance. The posts are permanent and not open to trainees.

• At least three years in a technical or transport role, including operating Scheuerle SPMTs
• Experience in transport operations, rigging and heavy equipment handling
• Basic knowledge of hydraulics, mechanical systems and electrical schematics
• Safety passport and full UK driving licence

Pay and benefits: £16 to £30 per hour depending on experience and tickets, plus overnight allowance and overtime rates, with on-target earnings of £65,000 to £100,000 a year. 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, PPE and workwear, life assurance and company pension.
